Adkins, Texas

Another small rural town that Realty Place specializes in. Located 14 miles southeast of downtown San Antonio in the ruling hills of east Bexar County, this small town has continued to grow since when it became a flag station for the Railroads in the 1880s.

History:

Adkins was named after William Adkins Jones and has grown from a tiny community with two churches and one school in 1910 to a thirty-two business town with a population of 8,426. The community boasts a laid-back character welcoming to everyone, while also offering a substantial business community with future job growth projects coming in strong.

Activities:

With low precipitation rates and the yearly averagely warm temperatures, the town offers a comfortable year-round climate. The nearby Calaveras Lake offers outdoor enthusiasts great opportunities for fun. For food, the famously Food Network featured Texas Pride Barbecue is located in this city. Here, you can enjoy good BBQ, good music, and good people for an all around good night!

Home Cost:

The median home cost in Adkins is $254,200 with the home appreciation in the last ten years at over 34%. Most of the houses in this great small-town community are relatively on the newer side, and sit on an acre or more of land.
